Your quote shows several options for the same move, priced on speed, service type and how much you want to carry in the car. Choose one service or combine them.

Door-to-Door Car Transport

The carrier collects your car from your home or workplace and delivers it to the address you choose. Door collections usually need 2 business days’ notice. For urgent moves, call our team to check what’s possible. Someone else can hand over or collect the car for you, as long as we have their name and contact number.

Depot-to-Depot Car Transport

Drop your car at a depot in the pick-up city and collect it from a depot at the other end. Depot drop-offs usually need 1 business day’s notice, and same-day drop-off may be possible if you book before 12pm. Depots are closed on weekends and public holidays. You’ll find the depot address, opening hours and drop-off instructions in your booking confirmation.

Car Transport by Rail

On long interstate routes, putting your car on a train can be a cost-effective alternative to road transport. We book train and rail car transport between the major capitals, including car transport on the Indian Pacific, Adelaide to Darwin by train, car transport by train to WA and rail transport to Queensland. Read our guide to moving a car by train in Australia to compare it with road transport.

Open and Enclosed Car Transport

Most cars travel on standard open car carriers. For prestige, classic or modified vehicles, enclosed car transport keeps the car fully covered from pick-up to delivery.

Vehicles We Transport

We arrange transport for running and non-running cars, 4WDs and SUVs (with or without modifications), vintage and classic cars, commercial vehicles, caravans, trailers and jet skis, as well as motorcycles, boats, broken and damaged cars and cars bought at auction.

Our standard carriers fit a sedan or wagon up to 5 m long, 1.9 m wide and 1.6 m high, and a 4WD or SUV up to 5.2 m long, 1.9 m wide and 1.9 m high. Vehicles need at least 150 mm of ground clearance. If your vehicle is larger or lower than this, or has a bull bar, roof racks, a lift kit or lowered suspension, tell us when you quote so we can match it to the right truck.

We service all capital cities on a regular basis. Start from your city for local details and this week’s quoted prices: car transport from Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth or Darwin.

How Car Transport Works

  1. Get your quote. Enter your pick-up and delivery suburbs, the vehicle’s make, model and year, and whether it runs or has modifications. You’ll see options by price, speed, goods allowance and service type.
  2. Book and pay. For moves within 7 days, pay in full when you book. For moves more than 7 days away, pay a $195 deposit and the balance 2 business days before pick-up.
  3. Get your confirmation. We schedule your car with the carrier and email a confirmation with your booking details, depot information and estimated transit time.
  4. Track your car. Where your service includes online tracking, you’ll get a link that updates at each milestone (it isn’t live GPS). Otherwise, ask our team for an update. The best time to check is 2 business days before your first estimated arrival date.
  5. Collect your car. Your car is delivered to your door or ready at the destination depot. Someone else can collect it on your behalf if we have their name and contact number.

How Much Does Car Transport Cost?

Car transport costs depend on your route and how you want to move the car. The main factors are:

  • Distance and route. Capital-to-capital routes are served regularly. Regional pick-ups and deliveries can add to the price.
  • Vehicle size. A vehicle larger than our standard dimensions, or one with a bull bar, roof racks or a lift kit, needs a requote.
  • Service type. Door-to-door, depot-to-depot, rail, and open or enclosed transport are each priced differently.
  • Speed. Faster options cost more than the cheapest available service.
  • Goods in the car. You can ship the car empty or add a goods allowance of up to 80 kg or 85 kg.
  • Running condition. Non-running or damaged vehicles need special loading and are quoted separately.

Car Transport FAQs

How long does car transport take?

Your estimated transit time is on your booking confirmation. Treat it as a guide, because transit times aren’t guaranteed: cars often wait at the depot until they’re allocated to a truck. The estimate firms up about 2 business days before your first estimated arrival date. On multi-leg trips, we can confirm the arrival date once your car is on its final leg.

Can I leave belongings in my car?

Yes, if you book a goods allowance. With the 80 kg option, goods must be packed in boxes or suitcases and kept in the boot or luggage area. With the 85 kg option, goods must stay below window height and off the front seats and the area behind the driver’s seat. If you book an empty vehicle, only the spare wheel, a secured child car seat and the logbook can stay in the car. Utes can carry goods in the tray only with a lockable hard cover.

Is my car insured during transport?

Your car is covered up to $80,000 or the vehicle’s value for carrier-related damage only, so we recommend keeping your own insurance as well. Conditions apply, set out in our terms and conditions. Learn more about transit protection and vehicle damage.

Can you transport a car that doesn’t run?

Yes. Non-running cars are quoted separately and need working brakes and steering. If the brakes or steering don’t work, call our office first. See broken and damaged car transport for details.

How much notice do you need?

Usually 1 business day for a depot drop-off (same day may be possible before 12pm) and 2 business days for a door collection. For anything more urgent, call 1300 307 694.

When do I pay?

If your car is moving within 7 days, payment is due in full when you book. If it’s more than 7 days away, you pay a $195 deposit, with the balance due 2 business days before pick-up.
